Quatre ans après sa dernière création italienne et suite au Lion d’or pour l’ensemble de son œuvre qui lui a été décerné à la Biennale de Venise en 2023, l’artiste revient en Italie pour investir et réinventer les espaces de deux des complexes culturels les plus emblématiques de la ville : le complexe monumental de San Paolo et l’Ospedale Vecchio, qui rouvrent ainsi leurs portes au public.

La première étape se déroulera avec « SEED », un projet artistique structuré et développé en deux phases: la première consiste en la présentation publique, pendant environ trois mois, de l’installation sonore in situ « Installation for Giardini di San Paolo », créée par Brian Eno et la journaliste et écrivaine turque Ece Temelkuran. Dans un second temps, l’œuvre trouvera une nouvelle vie et s’installera de façon permanente à la Casa del Suono. L’expérience d’écoute offerte au public dans les Giardini di San Paolo sera enregistrée sur place et disponible sur vinyle – un exemplaire unique, sélectionné par Eno lui-même – et intégrée à la collection permanente de la Casa del Suono, témoignant de la collaboration entre l’artiste britannique et la Ville de Parme.

Les espaces imposants de la Crociera dell’Ospedale Vecchio accueilleront « My Light Years », la plus vaste collection jamais réunie d’installations et d’œuvres audiovisuelles de Brian Eno, exposées ensemble dans un lieu unique : un complexe architectural monumental enfin rendu à sa vocation publique et collective.

With SEED and My Light Years, from April 30th to August 2nd, the icon of contemporary culture creates a widespread artistic project in Italy.

Brian Eno returns to Italy and presents in Parma one of the most significant artistic interventions of his career, exploring light, sound, space, and perception.

Four years after his last Italian creation and following the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement awarded to him at the Venice Biennale in 2023, the artist returns to Italy to transform and reinvent the spaces of two of the city’s most iconic cultural complexes: the monumental San Paolo complex and the Ospedale Vecchio, which are thus reopening to the public.

The first stage will unfold with “SEED,” a structured artistic project developed in two phases: the first consists of a public presentation, lasting approximately three months, of the site-specific sound installation “Installation for Giardini di San Paolo,” created by Brian Eno and the Turkish journalist and writer Ece Temelkuran. In the second phase, the work will find a new life and be permanently installed at the Casa del Suono. The listening experience offered to the public in the Giardini di San Paolo will be recorded on-site and made available on vinyl—a unique copy, selected by Eno himself—and integrated into the Casa del Suono’s permanent collection, thus documenting the collaboration between the British artist and the City of Parma.

The imposing spaces of the Crociera dell’Ospedale Vecchio will host “My Light Years”, the largest collection ever assembled of installations and audiovisual works by Brian Eno, exhibited together in a unique location: a monumental architectural complex finally restored to its public and collective purpose.
