Figure emblématique de la scène avant-gardiste new-yorkaise, performeuse, artiste, musicienne et, selon sa propre définition, « conteuse », Laurie Anderson annonce son retour en Italie pour une performance intense et saisissante. Elle y présentera, entre récits, éléments multimédias et expérimentations, X², accompagnée sur scène par le groupe new-yorkais Sexmob, mené par Steven Bernstein (cuivres), avec Briggan Krauss (saxophone, guitare), Tony Scherr (basse), Kenny Wollesen (percussions) et Doug Wieselman (guitare et cuivres).

Laurie Anderson est une artiste incontournable de l’avant-garde et du minimalisme américains : compositrice, écrivaine, metteuse en scène, photographe, instrumentiste, artiste visuelle et exploratrice des nouvelles technologies. Toutes ces facettes se conjuguent naturellement en une figure qui incarne, plus que toute autre, l’acte créatif appréhendé comme une performance ininterrompue.

L’artiste présente sur scène X², un morceau extrait de l’album magistral Big Science (1982), une synthèse minimaliste et réussie entre Steve Reich et Robert Ashley, qui a figé le théâtre d’avant-garde dans le langage de la musique pop. Ce titre deviendra la pierre angulaire d’un récit musical éblouissant, concocté avec l’aide d’un groupe de brillants vétérans de la scène underground new-yorkaise.

One of the best representatives of the New York avant-garde scene, performer and artist, musician, and, by her definition, “storyteller,” Laurie Anderson announces her return to Italy for what will be a refined and overwhelming performance in which she will present, between stories, multimedia elements and experimentation, X², accompanied on stage by the New York band Sexmob, led by Steven Bernstein (horns), with Briggan Krauss (sax, guitar), Tony Scherr (bass), Kenny Wollesen (percussion) and Doug Wieselman (guitar and horns).

Laurie Anderson is an incredible artist of the American avant-garde and minimalism: composer, writer, director, photographer, instrumentalist, visual artist, and explorer of new forms of technology. All these characteristics come together naturally in a figure who embodies, like no other, the creative act understood as uninterrupted performance.

The artist brings to the stage X², a track taken from the masterpiece album Big Science (1982), a happy minimalist synthesis between Steve Reich and Robert Ashley, which freeze-dried avant-garde theatre in the lexicon of pop music. And which will become the cornerstone of a dazzling musical narrative, conspired with the help of a group of splendid veterans of the downtown New York scene.
