Performa 15 / Performance festival in NYC / Various locations, New York / November 1 – 22, 2015.

Performa 13 is the only biennial dedicated to commissioning, presenting and exploring new visual art performance across disciplines. For three weeks Performa and a consortium of innovative organizations will band together to transform New York City into an international platform for celebrating live art.

More than 100 separate events presented at over 40 venues across the city will be announced throughout August, September and October. Stay tuned for all the latest about art that will be coming from cities as far afield as Johannesburg, Delhi, Singapore, Oslo and Warsaw.

Since 2004, Performa has been a leader in commissioning artists who together shape the next chapter of the multi-century legacy of visual artists working in live performance. Serving as an incubator for artists’ projects, Performa encourages new directions for live performance while paying homage to the form’s history and making way for its future.

Celebrating ten years since the founding of the Performa biennial in 2005, Performa 15, will premiere new works by artists Robin Rhode (South Africa), Pauline Curnier Jardin (France/The Netherlands), Edgar Arceneaux (United States), and Erika Vogt (United States), Performa alums Jérôme Bel (France) and Jesper Just (Denmark), as well as returning artist Francesco Vezzoli (Italy) in special collaboration with dancer David Hallberg (United States), to name a few.

Performa announces a pioneering partnership with Lafayette Anticipation, Fondation Galeries Lafayette, to launch during Performa 15.

Since its inception in 2004, Performa has been a leader in commissioning live performances by artists working in the field of visual arts. Likewise Lafayette Anticipation has established itself as a major player in producing ambitious new works by contemporary artists and designers since its creation in 2013. Both organizations strive to deepen this shared commitment and actively collaborate in mentoring and supporting artists to conceive, create, develop, and deliver stunning new works that will shape the visual art landscape of the twenty-first century.

From November 4 to 15, as part of the Performa 15 biennial, this collaboration will showcase cutting-edge works by artists Ulla von Brandenburg (Germany/France), Volmir Cordeiro (Brazil/France), Pauline Curnier Jardin (France/The Netherlands), Simon Fujiwara (United Kingdom), Christodoulos Panayiotou (Cyprus), and Erika Vogt (USA).

This program is curated by Charles Aubin, Associate Curator for both Performa (since 2013) and Lafayette Anticipation (since March 2015), and will take place at various locations across New York City. This exciting collaborative program will establish the basis for an even more ambitious series of programs conceived together and co-presented by the two organizations in 2016 and 2017.
