Istanbul Modern Cinema hosts Pink Life QueerFest, Turkey’s first queer festival. The festival organized by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite and Transsexual Solidarity Association draws attention to discrimination and violence towards LGBTT individuals and creates an opportunity for queer theory and art to be discussed and debated in Turkey. The films that are included in the festival program are as follows: Canan Gerede’s 1991 film “Robert’s Movie” screened as part of the “cult” films section of the festival, the screening of Canadian experimental video artist Daniel McIntyre’s hand-processed film oeuvre, the collective film of Lesbian Avengers, and a selection of films including short-films from Athens, Lisbon and Turkey.
