Panamarenko : Come fly with me » vous invite à partir pour un voyage imaginaire.
Panamarenko (1940-2019) is considered one of the most imaginative artists of recent decades. His fascination with the riddle of how an organism moves through the air or how an object can linger in the air went in all possible directions. He was fascinated by the flight of birds, which float through the air with the greatest ease; by the flight of jets, which flew through the airspace; by the extraordinary ingenious wing beat of insects… The obviousness with which real planes do not fall from the sky got on his nerves, as the artist himself explained.
This exhibition aims to show how Panamarenko shapes his desire to understand the wonder of flying and invites the visitor to follow the artist’s thoughts and dreams. With Panamarenko: Come fly with me, the artist challenges the visitor to leave on an imaginary journey.
This exhibition is curated by Philippe Van Cauteren, director of S.M.A.K. Gent and art historian Jo Coucke. This is a collaboration between the municipality of Koksijde and S.M.A.K. Gent and the Panamarenko Foundation.
